Global Crypto ATM Installations increased by 72% in 2021

By 2021, more than 10,000 new crypto ATMs have been installed around the world. Currently, the United States is the country with the largest number of crypto ATMs.

Increased adoption of cryptocurrencies in recent years has fueled the growth of cryptocurrency ATM installations around the world. According to the latest data from Coin ATM Radar, the installation of cryptocurrency ATMs in 2021 has seen an increase of 71.73%, going from 13,989 on January 1 to 24,099 on July 27.

In 2020, the global count increased to 13,989 ATMs (a growth of 119.56%) after 7,620 new machines were installed. So far in 2021, 10,110 ATMs have been installed. The data suggests that crypto ATMs are being installed at a rate of approximately 48.6 ATMs per day.

How the Crypto ATMs are distributed

The United States is currently the country with the most crypto ATMs, having installed about 47.1 ATMs per day, according to data from the last seven days. In March, the United States had 16,835 ATMs, and to date it has 21,259.

Crypto ATMs are accessible in 75 countries and work with 42 producers. Coin ATM Radar data on manufacturers suggests that Genesis Coin dominates the 41% of the market with 9884 locations, while General Bytes owns about 24% of the market with 5734. The remaining 35% of the market is shared among other manufacturers such as BitAccess, Coinsource, Bitstop and Bytefederal.

There are currently 618 cryptocurrency ATM operators. The top 10 operators run 15,737 crypto ATMs (65.4%). There are another 608 operators, running 8,332 Crypto ATMs (34.6%).

One of the largest holders of the Bitcoin (BTC) ATM network is Bitcoin Depot. The company operates 3,828 cryptocurrency ATMs to date that allow users in the US and Canada to purchase more than 30 types of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ether (ETH) and Litecoin (LTC).

Bitcoin Depot recently announced a partnership with Circle K to install crypto ATMs in the US and Canada. Since then, the partnership has resulted in the installation of more than 700 Bitcoin ATMs.
